Sergio Ramos has admitted he considered joining Machester United.
The Madrid centre-half was linked with a move to Old Trafford last summer before eventually lengthening his La Liga stay by extending his contract at the Bernabeu Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos has admitted he considered joining Manchester United when they came calling last summer.
The 30-year-old surfaced as a key target for the Old Trafford club when speculation linked David De Gea with a move the opposite way. And while the latter move failed to materialise, Louis van Gaal's side were aiming to take advantage of a contractual dispute between Ramos and Madrid before he eventually tied his future to los Blancos for the long term. However, the club captain has now confirmed that his loyalty to the Bernabeu outfit was swayed by United's interest before he extended his deal. "There was an offer from United," Ramos told COPE . "I considered changing for a while but Real Madrid was alwaysmy priority and there were no economic reasons."Did I feel cheated [by Madrid]? No, but I did feel disappointed for a while. There were some troubles that came to an end."
"I have not heard about [interest from Chelsea]. Many things have always been said. "Flattery from big clubs is always good as this is because you are doing well, but if the fans and my club want me."
After enduring a mixed start to the season, club stalwart Ramos has recovered since to play an integral role helping Zinedine Zidane's men back into the La Liga title race.
